This poured apple cake is the perfect proof that even without complicated preparation you can create an absolutely fabulous dessert. It contains no eggs, no kneading or whipping required. Just pour, layer and bake. The cake is beautifully moist, fragrant with cinnamon and crispy thanks to the butter on top. Ideal for Sunday coffee or as a quick treat for an unexpected visitor.

Preparation procedure

  • Preheating the oven: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease a baking dish about 30 × 20 cm with butter or line it with baking paper.
  • Dry mixture: In a bowl, mix the semolina, flour, sugar, baking powder and a pinch of salt.
  • Apple layer: Coarsely grate the apples, drizzle with lemon juice and mix with the cinnamon.
  • Layering: In the baking dish create layers in this order: 1/3 of the dry mixture 1/2 of the grated apples 1/3 of the dry mixture the remaining apples the last third of the dry mixture Do not press the layers, just smooth gently.
  • Butter: Grate cold butter over the surface or cut it into slices and distribute evenly across the entire surface.
  • Baking: Bake for approximately 45–50 minutes, until the surface is nicely golden and crispy.
