Homemade cream slice from puff pastry is an ideal choice when you’re looking for a quick and impressive dessert. The combination of crisp pastry, creamy pudding and airy whipped cream creates a treat that melts in your mouth. It’s suitable for everyday indulgence as well as festive occasions. And what’s more – its preparation takes only a few minutes!

Preparation procedure

  • Cream: In a bowl, whisk the yolks with the sugar. Add the corn starch and lemon zest, pour in the milk and mix thoroughly. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and, stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Cook until it thickens into a smooth cream. Pour into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and let cool completely.
  • Dough: Divide the puff pastry into two halves. Cut the first half into 15 squares. Leave the second half whole and prick it with a fork. Bake on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper at 180 °C for about 20 minutes, until the pastry is golden.
  • Whipped cream: Divide the whipping cream into two parts: Whip the first part until stiff and place it into a piping bag. Fold the second part into the cooled cream, creating a smooth and fluffy filling.
  • Assembly: Spread the cream onto the baked sheet of puff pastry, pipe mounds of whipped cream on top with a piping bag. Place the baked pastry squares on top. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes so the slices can set.
  • Finishing: Before serving, dust the kremeš with powdered sugar.
