Preparation procedure

  • Put the plain flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and lemon zest into a bowl. Add the softened fat, sour cream and egg. Work into a smooth, pliable dough that does not stick.
  • Divide the finished dough into two parts. Roll out the first portion and transfer it to a greased and floured baking sheet.
  • Lightly squeeze the grated apples so they are not too watery. Mix them with sugar, cinnamon and lemon zest. Spread evenly over the dough.
  • Roll out the second part of the dough and cover the apple layer with it. Prick the surface lightly with a fork so steam can escape. You can brush the pie with beaten egg yolk for a nicer color.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30 minutes, until the surface is golden. After baking, let the cake cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
