Preparation procedure

  • Sponge preparation Separate the yolks from the whites and beat them with the sugar until light and frothy. Add the sifted flour, baking powder, cocoa, milk and a few drops of oil. Beat until you have a smooth batter. Whip the egg whites separately until stiff peaks form and gently fold them into the batter. Pour the batter onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 20 minutes.
  • Soaking the sponge Immediately pour the mixture of boiled milk and rum over the hot baked sponge. Let it cool at room temperature.
  • Vanilla cream Make a pudding from 1 liter of milk and 3 packets of pudding mix. After it cools, beat in the softened margarine and sugar. The result is a smooth and creamy base for the cake.
  • Assembling the cake Place the bananas, sliced into rounds, on the cooled sponge, spread the vanilla cream evenly and whip the cream on top until firm. Put the cake in the refrigerator to rest for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.
