Simple and effective way to keep green herbs fresh.

If you don’t want to freeze them but don’t want them to wilt, lose color and flavor, this is a great solution.

And they stay fresh for about 30 days, sometimes longer.

We need:

  • tall jars
  • water
  • plastic bags

Procedure:

1. Rinse the herb tops under a stream of cold water. Then inspect them carefully and remove yellowed, rotten leaves and damaged stems.

2. Take 2 tall jars and pour 20 – 30 ml of water into each of them.

3. Then put a bunch of parsley into one and a bunch of dill into the other.

4. Cover each glass with a plastic bag.

 5. Store the herbs in the refrigerator this way. Every 2–3 days check whether there is still water in the jar. If not, top it up with fresh water.

6. Using this method you can preserve not only dill and parsley, but any other type of herbs (except basil, which loses its flavor when stored in the refrigerator).
