Spring is already here, and with it the time for planting in the garden, where you can also grow fresh fruit and vegetables. Some even start growing those popular plants in greenhouses or on a windowsill or balcony.
Growing cucumbers
Today we’ll focus on cucumbers and how to protect them from all kinds of pests. We prefer a healthy lifestyle and healthy food, so we will not advise you to use chemical preparations. Although they are effective, health comes first.
Prevention
1. Only cucumbers that do not yet have flowers can be treated. We recommend spraying the cucumbers with a mixture of natural ingredients every ten days. In a container with water dilute 20 grams of soap, 1 liter of milk and 30 drops of iodine. Prevention is always better than cure.
Yellow tips of cucumbers
2. It often happens that when beautiful green cucumbers begin to appear, their tips are already yellow. There is a solution. Soak 300 grams of bread in a bucket of water, add half a teaspoon of iodine and process the mixture. This treatment can be performed every two weeks.
Richer harvest in the countryside
3. For those who live in the countryside, keep cows or can obtain natural dairy products, it will be easy to treat the vegetables with whey. In a bucket of water dilute 2 liters of whey and 150 grams of sugar. After treating the cucumbers with this mixture your harvest will be richer.
Richer harvest in the city
4. For those who live in the city we have a recipe containing onion skins. It is cheap and easy to use. Boil 0,5 kg of skins in 5 litres of water, let it stand overnight. Then dilute with water in a ratio of 1: 4. It is recommended not only to spray the solution, but also to water the cucumbers.
Wilting cucumbers
5. If cucumbers on the plant begin to wilt directly on the stem, treat them with a whey solution without sugar in a ratio of 1: 5.
Watering
6. Treating cucumbers is important, but don’t forget regular watering. Especially if there is a long period without rainfall. When the cucumbers are just sprouting, water every other day. Later water every three days.

For prevention and treatment of rotting skin, spray tomatoes with a simple solution of 100 g of yeast diluted in 10 litres of water.
Tomato protection
If you want to fight tomato pests, try this solution. Mix 0,5 kg of chicken manure, 0,5 kg of charcoal and 5 tablespoons of sugar. Dissolve this mixture in water with yeast. Treat the plants with the solution once a week.
