Many people like rice and prepare interesting and tasty dishes from it, but few would think that rice can be dangerous for the human body. Specialist doctors warn all rice lovers against eating “leftovers” from the previous day, because such rice can be a huge burden on the body.
Dangerous rice
Rice that is several hours after cooking may contain dangerous bacteria called Bacillus cereus. It is specifically an entire chain of these bacteria that can cause poisoning in the human body.
This bacterium gets into rice from the soil. It then gets into the rice and through this rice into the human body, where a toxic infection develops.
The main problem is that the bacteria remain in rice despite cooking and high temperatures. Once the rice begins to cool after being uneaten, these bacteria begin to multiply again significantly and after a few hours the rice is literally full of these bacteria.
For exactly this reason, if a person eats rice from the previous day, vomiting or digestive problems occur.
Reheated rice
Many of you may have thought that a microwave oven could destroy this bacterium. Unfortunately even a microwave oven does not stop this bacterium. There are always some spores that survive even at 100 degrees.
If you have just turned away from this food, don’t draw hasty conclusions.
Experts who warn about this danger say that the ideal is to cook the rice and eat it. If some does remain, you should store the rice immediately in the refrigerator and for no longer than 24 hours.
They truly do not recommend consuming the rice later.
Interesting fact
If your rice was exposed to room temperature for more than 1 hour after cooking, definitely avoid eating it afterwards.
This rule applies to cooked rice, risotto, porridge and other dishes made from cooked rice.
