If you are one of those people who love sorbet, then you know that it can be made not only from fruit, but also from nuts, jam or dried fruit. We have new inspiration for you in the form of melon, from which you can prepare not only sorbet but also other refreshing goodies.
Melon
Do you like melons and especially can’t get enough of them in summer?
Not only the red melon, but also the yellow, green or honeydew are wonderful for creating the most delicious desserts that we will present to you below today. It will, of course, be sorbets. In summer they are in demand, refreshing and extremely tasty.
Sorbet as a popsicle
You can prepare watermelon sorbet for children in the form of popsicles. Just prepare small plastic cups, thicker skewers or popsicle sticks and slices of lemon or lime. Blend the melon flesh and pour it into the glasses. Put a slice of lemon on top and push the stick through the center. Leave to freeze and serve to children instead of overly sweet ice cream. You can replace the lemon with a slice of kiwi or orange.
Watermelon sorbet
Cut the flesh of the watermelon into smaller cubes, put them in a plastic container and freeze for 2 hours in the freezer. Then pour all the flesh into a blender and blend into a puree. Put the result into a cake pan and freeze again for at least 2 hours. Before serving, let the dessert thaw for a few minutes and serve. You have never eaten a better ice cream cake in your life!
Water ice
Ice cream lovers, make your own homemade treat from the best fruit. Blend a handful of raspberries, a handful of strawberries, a cup of orange juice and the flesh of one melon and let freeze in a container; ideally, throw the mixture into an ice cream maker.
Sweet creamy temptation
The unconventional combination of yellow melon and banana will knock you off your feet. It tastes intoxicating, is suitable for romantic evenings, but also for unbelievably indulgent moments when you don’t know what to eat. Blend bananas with the flesh of a yellow melon and add whipped cream. Those who prefer fresher flavors can replace the whipped cream with sour cream or yogurt. Let it freeze, or put it in an ice cream maker, and then just enjoy.
Extra tips and advice
If you like citrus sorbets, try adding a pinch of cinnamon to them sometimes. It tastes fantastic and will change refreshing sorbets beyond recognition. If you add honey to the cinnamon as well, you won’t be able to resist the aroma.
Sorbets are also excellent when made from vegetables. It’s an unconventional form, but in principle it’s the same as when you drink vegetable juices. Prepare a sorbet from pureed carrot, add a drop of lemon juice, honey and mint leaves.
Unsweetened citrus sorbets are fantastic, for example, as a side to grilled fish. In coastal countries you will get them only in the best restaurants, but you can enjoy these flavors at home too. You can also make sorbet from grapefruits or blood oranges, or simply freeze fruit juice in ice cube trays.
Citrus sorbets are also often added to frozen cocktails and drinks. If you are planning a summer party, don’t forget to prepare plenty of sorbet!
