The situation in the Czech Republic around the coronavirus is stabilised, yet people are confused about which shops are still closed and which are already open. So let’s take a look at a comprehensive overview.
„Today places where it is possible to shop again are expanding. How to proceed so that we protect ourselves and those around us will again be advised by our excellent experts. Basic rules: keep your distance, use protective equipment, pay cashlessly,” tweeted Health Minister Adam Vojtěch. The state of emergency will last until April 30 and until then cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and many other shops will be closed. The government decided before Easter that, for the sake of the people, it will open some additional stores.
The state of emergency in the Czech Republic has been in effect since March 12, when shops such as drugstores, pharmacies, opticians, pet stores, newsagents, petrol stations and grocery stores may be open.
Later exemptions were granted to florists, haberdasheries, locksmiths, appliance repair shops and car washes.
Collection yards and composting facilities have also opened. From April 7 people can also, for example, play tennis, but communal showers and changing rooms must remain closed. If people exercising keep a sufficient distance from others, they will not have to wear protection while running or skating. Since April 9, hobby markets, building supply stores, hardware stores and bicycle shops and services have been in operation.
After Easter the government could ease further measures and shops selling workwear, children’s textiles, stationery or footwear could open.
