Naturally harvested tomatoes from your own garden are a delicacy in themselves. Still, they don’t always grow the way we wish. We present the best guides that will help your tomatoes thrive.
Growing tomatoes
Garlic
It may sound a bit crazy, yet it is indeed true – garlic takes care of tomatoes. Even enough to help strengthen their stems like nothing else. All you need is five cloves of garlic and about a liter of hot water.
Mix crushed garlic with a liter of warm water (not boiling). Give the mixture a chance to act for at least twenty minutes in a sunny spot or near a radiator. Use this concentrate carefully – a tablespoon of this mixture per liter of water is sufficient. You will get an ideal infusion that will significantly boost your tomatoes.
Yeast and baker’s yeast
We are used to seeing yeast in the kitchen when preparing some sweet treat. You might be amazed that you can use yeast effectively in your garden. This type of tomato fertilization is not only very cheap, but also very effective.
You will need 100 grams of yeast, 3 liters of water (chlorine-free) and a large tablespoon of sugar. Setting up this common compost is simple. Allow the yeast to dissolve in the water and include the sugar. Let the mixture rest for about 30 minutes in a warm place – during this time it should be shaken several times.
The perfect use is once a month as a liquid feed.
Eggshells
Eggshells are a treasure for the garden. They are especially valuable as compost because:
- They contain a large amount of calcium
- They are perfect waste material
- They prevent blossom rot
Setting up the compost is also completely simple. You should simply crush the shells and pour 3 liters of warm water over them. The mixture should be left to rest for 2-3 days. However, don’t forget to stir the mixture regularly during this time. Water the tomatoes twice a month with the mixture.
Coffee
It’s true that many people are fans of ground coffee and your day wouldn’t start right without it. At this point you’ll undoubtedly be pleased to know that coffee grounds that somehow end up as waste have many different uses – among other things, as great home compost.
Coffee grounds compost supports plant development and meanwhile provides them with lots of nutrients. At the same time, this is the least difficult example of any of our tips – simply add the coffee grounds. Then you can happily watch your tomatoes flourish.
