Ticks, a small enemy that can cause major health problems. Do not underestimate prevention! Check yourself and use a repellent. Among the serious diseases that a tick can infect you with are tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme borreliosis. Diseases that can cause permanent damage to health and even death.

Aromatic herbs that ticks don’t like

There are many herbs that ticks do not like at all. Effective are lavender flowers, which are enough to rub between your fingers, fennel seeds and basil leaves. A suitable choice is also a few drops of essential oil, which you can rub on your wrists, neck, ankles and the hollow behind the knees. You can try peppermint-scented oil or tea tree essential oil.

However, you can also mix many repellents yourself. Cheaply, easily and in the comfort of your home. Know that our grandmothers knew how to repel ticks!

Rosemary repellent

To prepare a rosemary repellent you will need 100 grams of dried or 200 grams of fresh rosemary and a tablespoon of vinegar. Boil the rosemary in about one liter of water and after it cools add the vinegar. Strain the mixture through a very fine sieve and pour into a spray bottle. Store the repellent in a cool place.

Oil-based repellent

An oil-based repellent made from St. John’s wort, wormwood, sage or chamomile is also worth trying.

Simply pour hot vegetable oil over the herbs and let them steep for three weeks in a cool, dark place.

When applying it, however, be careful with clothing! Almond oil, which you mix with rose oil and water, also works great.

Alcoholic herbal solution

You can prepare a very effective natural repellent from green thuja cones or green husks of walnuts. Simply boil the ingredients in one liter of water and add Francovka. The flowers of tansy will also work, which you mix with a crushed clove of garlic and pour over with alcohol.

Apple cider vinegar mixed with water in a 1:2 ratio is also an excellent tick repellent.

Don’t give ticks a chance to bite!

Before entering nature remember that no repellent is one hundred percent effective! Therefore protect your body with appropriate clothing.

You can also consume garlic or vitamin B. Studies show that people who consume large amounts of yeast and drink beer, which also contains vitamin B, are much more protected. So go ahead and have one!
