Cucumbers are one of the most widespread crops and can be found in the gardens of many growers. However, the biggest problem when growing them is that during active fruiting cucumbers are attacked by fungal diseases and pests.
If cucumbers are growing quickly, chemical spraying must not be carried out.
For this reason, working with organic harmless solutions is recommended.
Ingredients:
- 500 ml whey
- 2 tbsp 10% ammonia
- 4 – 5 l of room-temperature water
Procedure:
1. Mix the whey with the ammonia.
2. Pour the mixture into the water.
3. Treat the plants with the solution by spraying both sides of the leaves, at least once a week, early in the morning or late at night so that the solution remains on the leaf surface as long as possible.
Whey contains a huge amount of beneficial substances for plants (nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and microelements).
After the leaves are coated, a thin film forms on the surface that perfectly protects them from the spores of fungal diseases. Small pests will also avoid them because they do not like this film.
Ammonia is a wonderful fertilizer containing nitrogen, but it also serves as an excellent prevention against insects. In this mixture, ammonia functions to neutralize the acidity of the whey, because an acidic environment is not the most pleasant for plants. With regular application, the leaves and flowers enlarge. This solution will ensure you a healthy and abundant harvest.
