Perfect recipe that will disinfect your mattresses in 1 minute, refresh them, get rid of odors, mold spores, and even dust mites; do this at least once a month.
How to disinfect mattresses
We need:
- 100 ml water
- 100 ml of 70% alcohol
- About 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
- A few drops of fabric softener (you can skip)
Instructions:
Mix everything in a spray bottle.
Spray onto the mattress and that’s it. This mixture destroys bacteria, dust mites and leaves a pleasant scent. In addition, the tea tree oil kills mold spores and also works as an excellent prevention against bedbugs. You can add a few drops of lavender oil to the mixture to help you sleep better. This way the mattresses won’t smell musty and you’ll be sure you’re sleeping in something clean.
Disinfected, clean, odorless and moisture-free – a tip from you
This works fantastically for regular mattress maintenance. What’s most important is that the mattresses not only smell great, but you also remove moisture, dust mites and bacteria that are present in them. I recommend adding tea tree essential oil for cleaning, which acts against moisture and mold. It also repels bugs and bedbugs that can settle in mattresses. I wouldn’t do without it!
We need:
- baking soda
- a few drops of essential oil – I recommend tea tree essential oil
- vacuum cleaner
Instructions:
- First, thoroughly vacuum the mattress.
- Apply the baking soda mixed with a few drops of essential oil across the entire surface of the mattress using a sieve.
- Depending on the level of soiling, leave it to act for 1-2 hours.
- Then simply vacuum up the remaining baking soda.
Why does it work?
The vacuum removes dust and surface dirt from the mattress.
Baking soda absorbs excess moisture, removes odors and kills bacteria on the mattress surface. The essential oil will ensure that your mattress smells the way you like it.
Guarantees a perfect mattress cleaner – works on all stains
I discovered this cleaner last year and since then I’ve cleaned all the mattresses in our home and even my mother’s. The mattresses will be disinfected and it also works on older stains from urine, sweat or food — just spray it over the entire mattress surface from time to time. Also, you’ll save money with this cleaner; making it will cost you only a few coins. Of course, it’s good to wash the mattress cover now and then, but mine, for example, doesn’t fit in the washing machine, which is why I found this method!
We need:
- 200 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide
- 3 tablespoons of baking soda
- a few drops of liquid soap
Instructions:
Vacuum the surface of the mattress. Mix all the ingredients in a spray bottle and wait until it stops foaming. Then close the bottle and simply spray onto the surface of the mattress. Leave it to act for at least 3 hours in a ventilated room. When the mattress is dry, you can put the cover back on as usual.
I also found a guide on the internet on how to remove urine stains quickly using vinegar and water!
How to remove stains
Cleaning stains from colored drinks – coffee, wine, cola.
For these stains, a lemon solution or vinegar works best. You can spray it directly onto the stain using a spray bottle. Pure alcohol also works — apply it directly to the stain using a clean absorbent cloth.
Cleaning urine and odor
Make a perfect stain remover for these purposes: Mix 1 teaspoon of water in a container with 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of laundry detergent. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a drop of dish soap. Rub the solution into the mattress. Sprinkle the moistened area with a thin layer of baking soda and leave it to act for several hours, preferably overnight. Vacuum up the now-dry baking soda powder, then spray the deodorizing agent again and cover the area with a cloth for 30 minutes. When the cloth is dry, the stain should be completely gone.
