Doctors recommend that we start paying attention to animal products that we can also use as prevention against diseases and to fight infections. One of these products is fresh bacon!
Benefits of bacon
The fat from bacon contains large amounts of vitamins A, D, E and carotene. It helps keep the immune system fully functional and improves the overall functioning of the body, especially during this cold season.
There are many legends about the dangers of bacon that often scare people who enjoy this product. Today we will tackle this issue and reveal all the myths.
Fat causes weight gain and obesity
That’s not completely true: fat, like other products, has a negative effect on the human body only in excessive amounts. For healthy people who do not suffer from problems with the digestive tract, liver and pancreas, this fat will only be beneficial. The daily dose of fresh bacon for a healthy person ranges between 10-30g per day.
Bacon – very heavy food
The opposite is true: in healthy people it does not cause digestive problems. Bacon is incredibly beneficial for the body because it melts according to our body temperature. It is not suitable for people who suffer from issues with bile production.
Bacon – firm consistency
Who says that’s bad? Subcutaneous fat has a unique structure that is rich in the rare arachidonic acids. This substance is essential for our body because it is part of our immune system and is also necessary in the metabolism of cholesterol.
It contains large amounts of cholesterol
Like other animal products, bacon also contains cholesterol. Its amount is not as enormous as you might think. In 100g of fresh bacon there is 70-100mg of cholesterol. For comparison – 100g of beef kidneys contains 1126mg of cholesterol.
Doctors have long confirmed the fact that the amount of cholesterol in the blood and tissues does not depend on how much bacon you consume.
Much more important is the metabolism of cholesterol. The body must take as many useful substances as possible and process them correctly. The acids contained in the fat – linoleic acid and arachidonic acid – will help with that.
Bread + bacon = a dangerous combination
This combination tastes good to our body and does not harm at all. Both products will not wreak any havoc, provided that the person is healthy. For those trying to lose weight, bacon serves as an excellent source of energy. Bacon with vegetables is the best choice!
