Most people in Bombay who meet her think she is English. In reality, the heroine of this story is called Pooja Ganatra.

She was born in Mumbai (India) and had to get used to everyone being surprised when they found out where she came from. Scientists say there is nothing strange about her appearance, although it cannot be considered ordinary. The cause of this anomaly is genetics.
She was “different”
White skin, red hair and green eyes were a real shock to the parents. After her birth they decided they no longer wanted to have more children, because they believed the girl was certainly ill and they would have to spend a lot of money on treatment.
Pooja’s appearance was the only thing she was associated with. In all other respects she was an ordinary child, like all the other children from India.
Raising such a child was a real test for this Indian family. For example, when she was three years old and freckles appeared on her face, her parents immediately went to the doctor in a panic.
The whole family thought it was a manifestation of a congenital defect or a skin disease.
Pooja believed that this appearance was inherited from her mother, whose mother, compared to Indian standards, was also somewhat lighter.
My grandmother, unfortunately, is no longer alive, so I don’t know if that could be the reason it looks like her. Family friends believe that an Englishman is hidden somewhere in her family, because in the past Britain had almost 100 of its own colonies in modern India.
School years
During her school years she was the victim of ridicule several times. Therefore she had only a few real friends before entering university.
She experienced difficult situations
Pooja recalls that during her first year at university the school authorities personally asked her not to wear sleeveless shirts.
Other students, however, did not have such a ban and walked around campus with bare forearms. The rector defended his decision by saying that dressing like that made the girl stand out from the crowd and attracted even more attention.
Even in her native Bombay local residents consider her a tourist. Taxi drivers are always surprised when they speak to her in English and she calmly replies in their language.
She often has to deal with street vendors because they want to sell their goods to her at artificially high prices, as they do to tourists.
It seems that this unusual appearance of red hair and green eyes attracts a lot of attention. To be honest, people advise her to wear more makeup or to undergo plastic surgery.
Family wants DNA tests
Family members, who are trying to be themselves, insist on having a DNA test done to find out where their ancestors came from.
The woman’s face is literally covered in freckles and they remain visible all year due to the climate she lives in. Any spots or other marks are considered very negative!
Fortunately Pooja stopped communicating and responding to comments from other people.
When she got to know the world outside her hometown, she realized that her appearance is perfectly normal, and she learned to accept herself.
