Older people have no doubt about it. However, it is very important to actively spend time with your loved ones. Laugh, talk together, and share good energy. It has even been proven that the more actively you spend time with your parents or grandparents, the longer they will live.

Time with family

Inviting your grandmother to lunch and the fact that you actually visit her can prolong life. Scientists from the University of California found that loneliness can significantly accelerate aging. The study focused on a sample of 1,600 people, with an average age of 71.

Each of them had their own social status, some lived as couples, some were lonely and their health varied. Unfortunately, it was found that those who were lonely died within six years of the start of this scientific study.

Loneliness

“It is very important to have someone in old age,” says social worker Barbara Moscovitz of The New York Times. Older people attach great importance to these relationships.

“Older people are very tolerant of their friends’ mistakes. They have much more experience in friendship. They know what to fight for and what not to,” Barbara added.

Shared moments

Besides the need to invite your older relatives to dinner and family celebrations, it is very important to maintain friendships with older people. Older people help keep you in a better mood, believe in a better life, are healthy, have a more positive outlook and are generally more meaningful.

Time spent with grandparents helps them live better, longer and happier. Enrich them with new stories and experiences from the modern world.

Sometimes you just need a short conversation and a long hug, which prolong your life.
