With the onset of cold weather, the question of insulating your home becomes more important than ever.
Windows – that’s what you must insulate first
Did you know there’s such a thing as a summer and winter mode for plastic windows? If not, we
will gladly reveal this secret to you!
It’s an economical solution and applies especially in homes where there is no central heating, or when it’s already cold outside, but it’s not yet very warm inside.
The trick is that the seasonal mode of plastic windows can be changed
The seasonal window mode is a very useful thing, because in summer this option allows you to
release the pressure between the outer frame and the rubber seal, which allows freer
air circulation. In winter it works the other way around – the pressure increases, heat is retained
inside.
Screws on the side
First you need to find out whether your windows have the ability to change their seasonal mode. To do this,
you should look at the so-called screws on the side of the window sash. If it has a hole for a square key or has an oval shape, the seasonal setting can be adjusted.
You should turn the screw to the right or left by 90 degrees, depending on which mode you need. Do all of this carefully and cautiously. First find all
the screws on the sash; their number may vary depending on the size of the window or the manufacturer. You must turn every screw, because otherwise you will not achieve the desired result.
To change the window mode, you need the right tool
You need a screwdriver or a square key. You can also use pliers, but we do not recommend it, because you can damage the delicate adjustment mechanism. It’s important to understand one thing: you do not have to turn the screw all the way to the stop.
The screw will still move and you should turn it exactly 90 degrees, focusing on the mark that will help you set it correctly. If you did everything correctly, the window handle should move more firmly.
Plastic windows
A comfortable and practical thing that requires care. At least once
a year you should lubricate all moving parts of the window frame with a small amount of
oil and also check how tightly the screws are fastened.
