We asked you what you have tried and what works for you against the hated ticks. These recipes were suggested directly by you; you use them not only for people but also for pets. Don’t hesitate and try them too.

Miraculous mixture – I make it for the whole family and even for my grandson

We soaked lavender, a whole cinnamon stick, a piece of rosemary in Alpa, let it infuse; when we went to the cottage we rubbed and sprayed ourselves with it, it helped a lot. The exact ratio is: into a 2 dcl jar put a handful of lavender flowers, 1 piece of whole cinnamon, a few sprigs of rosemary.

We store the mixture in the refrigerator in a jar and when it runs low, we simply top it up with Alpa.

They don’t like this – put it in your pocket

I haven’t been without fennel seeds for years. I put them in pockets, shoes, socks before spending time in the garden. Ticks hate the smell of fennel. We have verified it on myself and my husband.

Vitamin against ticks

This is not a 100% solution but it helps very, very much. I can compare it over the years; when I didn’t take it the difference was enormous, almost no ticks the whole season, although now and then a brave one showed up. For example, take vitamin B long-term. I buy a regular B-complex and then ticks don’t like the smell. And if a tick does attach, at least you are doing something for your health.

Watch your own yard – this way they won’t get to you

Rule number 1 is short grass, and around the fence about 60 cm of stones or gravel so they can’t come through from the neighbors. Also plant aromatic herbs in the garden – basil, lavender, mint, aksamentnica – they don’t like those smells. And watch out for domestic animals; my son got a tick from a cat that had it in its fur. Don’t forget to check your pets too.

Proven spray against ticks

I mix a few drops of lemon oil and a few drops of tea tree into water and put it in a spray bottle. Before going outside I spray myself and the dog, and it has worked for me.

I also put this in the fabric softener and I have peace of mind

Add a little tea tree oil to shampoo and shower gel. Also to laundry instead of fabric softener. For example, when mowing. If you go to a meadow / into the woods, dab some on your cap, sleeves, the top edge of your socks, sneakers, shirt, hair.

Advice from an old mother

Let cloves infuse in Alpa and use it to rub on; I’ve tried it, they won’t go on it.

I’ve been using this for years

A sachet of rosemary (available in grocery stores, but you can also use fresh rosemary) into a liter of boiling water and remove from the heat immediately. Let it steep well + one tablespoon of vinegar. Then use it in a spray bottle.

It’s also good to use eucalyptus essential oil together with lemongrass – in a solution with water.
