Preparation procedure

  • Sponge cake base In a bowl, cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. Add the sifted flour with the baking powder and mix. Spread the batter onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper (approx. 25×35 cm) and bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C for 20 minutes. Let cool.
  • Pudding cream with sour cream In a saucepan bring 500 ml of the milk with the sugar and vanilla extract to a boil. Mix the remaining 130 ml of milk with the pudding powder and, stirring constantly, pour it into the boiling milk. Cook for 2–3 minutes, until the pudding thickens. Remove from the heat, let cool slightly and gradually stir in the sour cream. Spread the cream evenly over the cooled base.
  • Strawberry layer Wash the strawberries, dry them, remove the stems and cut into quarters or slices. Arrange them close together on the pudding cream.
  • Strawberry glaze In a small saucepan, mix the glaze with the sugar and water. Bring to a boil and, stirring constantly, cook for 1–2 minutes until the mixture thickens. Carefully spread the hot glaze over the strawberries.
  • Chilling Let the dessert chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours so that all layers set. Before serving, cut into 12–16 portions with a sharp knife.
