Meatballs in a delicious tomato sauce with a side of smooth mashed potatoes are a classic dish that will win over everyone at the table. This recipe is ideal for a tasty lunch that will please the whole family. Prepare this dish easily and quickly according to the following procedure.

Preparation procedure

  • Preparation of the meatballs In a bowl, mix the ground meat with the finely chopped onion, crushed garlic, parsley, egg, salt, pepper, ground paprika, breadcrumbs and a pinch of grated nutmeg. Form meatballs from the mixture of approximately 100 g each. Coat the balls in breadcrumbs. Heat oil in a pan and fry the balls for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden. Then remove them and set aside.
  • Preparation of the tomato sauce In the same pan where the balls were fried, sauté the onion until translucent. Add the canned tomatoes, soy sauce, a pinch of nutmeg and salt. Stir in the plain flour, mix well and pour in the water. Bring to a boil. Return the fried meatballs to the sauce, reduce the heat and let them simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • Serving Serve the meatballs with the tomato sauce and we recommend smooth mashed potatoes as a side.

  • Meatball preparation: 20 minutes
  • Frying the balls: 10 minutes
  • Sauce preparation and simmering: 40 minutes
  • Total: 70 minutes

Tip: If you want a stronger flavor, add fresh herbs to the sauce, such as basil or oregano. This dish is also great the next day, when the flavors meld even more! Enjoy your meal!
