Preparation procedure

  • Cook the pudding Pour most of the milk into a saucepan and bring to a boil. In the remaining milk, whisk together the pudding powder, vanilla, egg yolk and sugar. As soon as the milk begins to boil, remove from the heat and stir in the pudding mixture. Return to the heat and, stirring constantly, cook until the pudding thickens. Let cool, covered with plastic wrap.
  • Prepare the cream Beat the butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy. Stir it into the cooled pudding spoonful by spoonful and whip into a smooth cream.
  • Layering the cake Line the pan (e.g. a round or square cake pan) with plastic wrap. Place half of the cocoa cookies on the bottom (you can briefly dip them in milk). Spread half of the cream and smooth it. Continue with a layer of butter cookies, then the second half of the cream. Top with the remaining cocoa cookies.
  • Chocolate glaze Melt the chocolate in a water bath and stir in the cream. Pour this glaze over the whole cake and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (ideally overnight).
