Preparation procedure

  • Preparing the dough: In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar and baking soda. Add the lard, melted honey, beaten egg and gradually add the milk until a semi-firm dough forms. Divide the dough into four parts, roll each out into a sheet and bake on the underside of a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for approximately 6 minutes per sheet.
  • Preparing the filling: Bring the milk to a boil, add the semolina with constant stirring and cook into a thick porridge. Let it cool. Then beat the margarine with the powdered and vanilla sugar and gradually mix it into the cooled porridge until a smooth cream forms.
  • Assembling the slices: Spread half of the filling on the first dough sheet, cover with the second sheet and spread apricot jam. On the third sheet spread the remaining filling and cover with the last sheet. Press the entire dessert and let it rest overnight so the layers soften.
  • Preparing the chocolate glaze: Melt the chocolate in a water bath, add a tablespoon of oil and stir until the glaze is glossy. Spread it evenly over the top sheet of the slices and let it set.
