Honey bars are among the desserts that taste even better after resting, when the sheets soften nicely and the cream melds perfectly. Preparation procedure

  • In a water bath, heat the butter, honey and sugar until everything has melted and combined. Remove from heat and stir the eggs into the lukewarm mixture. Add the flour and baking soda and work into a soft, non-sticky dough. Divide it into 3–4 equally sized parts.
  • Roll each portion of dough into a thin sheet to fit the size of the baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for approximately 5–7 minutes, until the sheets are lightly golden. Let cool.
  • Using the milk and vanilla pudding mixes, cook a thick pudding and let it cool completely. Whip the butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy and gradually beat in the cold pudding.
  • Spread a portion of the cream evenly over the first baked sheet, top with another sheet and repeat the process until you have used up all the ingredients.
  • Melt the chocolate with the butter in a water bath and spread it over the top of the bars. Wrap the dessert in foil and refrigerate for at least 12 hours, ideally overnight.
