Fanta slices with a quark filling are among popular homemade desserts that combine a moist sponge, a delicate quark cream and a fresh orange layer. If you like quick sheet-pan desserts, I also recommend taking a look at Milka cake or mug apple gingerbread — tender, moist and ready in no time – both recipes are simple and pair perfectly with today’s dessert.

Ingredients

Sponge:

Quark cream:

Jelly layer:

Preparation procedure

  • Whip the eggs with the sugar until light and foamy. Pour in the oil and briefly mix. Combine the flour with the cocoa and baking powder and gradually work it into the egg mixture. Pour the finished batter onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 15–20 minutes. After baking, let the sponge cool completely.
  • Mix the quark with the powdered and vanilla sugar into a smooth cream. Whip the cream until stiff and gently fold it into the quark. Spread the cream evenly over the cooled sponge.
  • In a small portion of the soda, dissolve the pudding powder and sugar. Bring the remaining soda to a boil, pour in the pudding mixture and, stirring constantly, cook until thick. Let it cool briefly so it’s not hot, then carefully pour it over the quark layer.
  • Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, ideally overnight, so the jelly sets perfectly and the flavors meld.
