You can use the dough not only for strudels but also for spirals, buns, or rolls. Try this recipe and see for yourself!

Preparation procedure

  • In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour with the margarine.
  • Add the plain yogurt and baking powder and work into a smooth, uniform dough.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
  • Roll each part into a thin sheet on a clean towel.
  • Spread the grated apples over the dough.
  • To taste, sprinkle with poppy seeds, ground nuts, and raisins, and lightly dust with breadcrumbs, which will absorb the excess juice.
  • Sprinkle granulated sugar to suit the sweetness of the apples.
  • Using the towel, roll up the strudel and carefully transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or greased).
  • Brush the surface of the strudel with milk and prick several times with a fork.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30 minutes until golden.
  • After cooling, you can dust the strudels with powdered sugar.
