Preparation procedure
- Put the softened butter into a bowl together with the flour, baking powder and powdered sugar and mix
- Add the cocoa, 4 egg yolks and work into a uniform dough
- Set the smaller half of the dough aside in the fridge and let it firm up
- Grease the baking tray with butter
- Roll out the dough, or press it into a flat round with your hands
- Spread the dough surface with jam and lay out the first layer of apples
- Then drizzle with lemon juice and sprinkle with cinnamon
- Whip the egg whites and sugar into stiff peaks and layer that on top of the apples
- Grate the dough chilled from the fridge as the final layer of the cake (alternatively roll it out, cut into strips and cover the cake in a lattice)
- Bake for about 40 minutes at 180 degrees.
- Then let it cool and serve
