Preparation procedure

  • Put the flour, sugar, salt and pudding powder into a bowl. Add the yeast dissolved in part of the lukewarm milk, the remaining milk, the egg and the melted butter. Work into a soft, smooth dough that will begin to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Lightly dust the dough with flour, shape it into a ball, cover with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30–35 minutes.
  • Roll the risen dough out to a thickness of approximately 7 mm. Cut into squares or rectangles and make 1–2 slits in each piece with a knife.
  • Heat a sufficient amount of oil in a deep pan or pot. Fry the doughnuts on both sides until golden. The oil should be hot but not smoking, so the pastries don't soak up fat.
  • Let the finished doughnuts drain on paper towels and dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
