Ingredients

Cake base:

4 eggs
200 g granulated sugar
8 tablespoons hot water
8 tablespoons oil
200 g all-purpose flour
1/2 packet baking powder
a pinch of salt

Cream:

3 tubs sour cream
2 tubs whipping cream
6 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 packet instant vanilla pudding (Olé)

Also needed:

fresh strawberries
1 packet red cake gelatin

optional: jam to spread on the cake base

Preparation procedure

Preparing the cake base Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until thick and frothy. Pour in the hot water and oil. Gradually add the flour mixed with the baking powder. Finally, gently fold in the egg whites beaten with a pinch of salt. Spread the batter on a greased and floured baking tray measuring 40x27 cm. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 °C for about 20 minutes. After baking, let the cake base cool.
Cream layer In a bowl, mix the sour cream, whipping cream and powdered sugar. Add the instant vanilla pudding and stir gently.
Assembling the dessert Optionally spread jam over the cooled cake base. Then spread the prepared cream evenly. Arrange the sliced fresh strawberries on top of the cream.
Preparing the gelatin Prepare the gelatin according to the instructions on the package and let it cool slightly. If you want a thicker jelly layer, mix 3 packets of red cake jelly with 10 tablespoons of granulated sugar, pour in 750 ml of cold water, cook according to the instructions and, after cooling, pour over the strawberries.
Setting and serving Place the cake in the refrigerator and let it set completely. Then cut into squares and serve.
