It tends to happen that two colleagues become pregnant at approximately the same time. But what is the probability that it would happen to as many as nine colleagues? A photo recently circulated the world showing eight of the nine nurses with baby bumps.
Is it a coincidence?
Nine nurses who work in the maternity ward at the Maine Medical Center in Portland are expecting babies between April and July, and one of them is even expecting twins. During this period the staff on the maternity ward will therefore swap roles, and for a while they will become clients.
According to research it turned out that pregnancy can indeed be, so to speak, ,, contagious “
Our decision to have a child can be influenced not only by economic circumstances or the maturity of the partners, but even by social media or the work environment. And it is precisely the work environment in this case that may have had an effect on this remarkable situation.
,, It is really nice to come to work and see colleagues who are also pregnant, to watch their growing bellies and to talk about what we are experiencing together, ” said nurse Amanda Spear to WMTW . Moreover, because they all work in the maternity ward, there’s certainly no room to be complacent.
9 pregnant nurses
Another pregnant nurse, Samantha Giglio, who unlike her colleagues is pregnant for the second time, said that this time it is much better because she is not experiencing the pregnancy alone. Samantha also added that it is pleasant for everyone to know that they will take care of each other. But what will happen to the department if nine nurses suddenly find themselves on maternity leave at once? Because the hospital employs 80 registered nurses, they can easily cope with such a pleasant problem.
