Nuts are a genuine superfood. They contain plenty of perfect nutrients and vitamins – A, B1, B2, B12, B15, C, K, E, and also substances such as carotene, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, iron and zinc. The exceptional mixture of these and various strengthening elements in nuts is extraordinarily life-sustaining. Even a Harvard study claims that you should eat a few nuts a week and live better.
Walnuts
If you are lucky enough to have gathered a large amount of walnuts and want to keep them fresh and full of nutrients for a long time, we have instructions on how to achieve that.
Preserved dry nuts
You don’t have to worry that the nuts will go stale or become moldy.
You will need
- Canning jars
- Shelled nuts
How to do it?
Pour the nuts into a canning jar. At that moment place the filled jar into the oven and set it to 70 degrees. Let it bake for 10 minutes, then put lids on the jars and place them in the oven for 10 minutes.
After this time take the jars out of the oven and seal them tightly.
You can achieve the same result in a microwave, where you place the jars closed for 2.5 minutes. Then remove the jars and turn them upside down.
Freezing nuts
Frozen nuts will keep for half a year without loss of flavor. Store the nuts in a plastic container with a lid and place them in the freezer.
In a similar way you can keep the nuts in the refrigerator, but only for about 1 month.
Nuts in honey
An interesting arrangement is layering nuts into honey.
Just place them into a jar and mix with honey in a 1:1 ratio. Nuts consumed every day can support immunity and improve overall well-being. Enjoy them especially in the first part of the day.
How to get the most out of nuts?
You can combine nuts with warm milk, honey, yogurt or quark and raisins. Add them to your breakfasts to obtain all the essential nutrients.
