Right now in this period (although a little earlier than we are used to) they ripen in the forests, and even in our gardens. This black fruit was already praised in ancient Greece and is as old – and perhaps even older – than humanity itself. In recent years, however, blackberries have been forgotten and their more popular forest relatives – blueberries and cranberries – have come to the fore. Blackberries should definitely not be forgotten.
They hide the calm and strength of green forests
Blackberries can grow in very demanding environments and the only weapon they can defend themselves with are sharp thorns. As a result of their strength and tenacity are the black fruits that hide the secrets of health, strength and mental calm within them.
packed with nutrients
Who would have said that this fruit contains such a unique combination of vitamins and nutrients that we do not encounter in the same form in any other fruit? They are literally packed with calcium, B vitamins, C, vitamin K and E.
They fight against the development of cancer
Valuable flavonoids act as a powerful antioxidant that frees the body of harmful substances. In fact, it has been shown that blackberries can significantly reduce the risk of tumor cell formation and also reduce the negative consequences of chemotherapy.
For joints and muscles
Blackberry seeds contain oils and salicylates – these are used in the treatment of inflammations and rheumatism . Blackberries benefit the overall health of joints, muscles and tendons, and are especially suitable for active athletes and people suffering from diseases and frequent inflammations of the musculoskeletal system.
Prevention against diabetes
Thanks to ellagic acid blackberries can influence the level of blood sugar so that they keep it in balance and thus prevent the onset and worsening of diabetes symptoms.
elixir of youth
Already in Ancient Greece women praised blackberries as a source of beauty and youth . Today we know that these effects are mainly due to the high content of magnesium, vitamins A and C and the aforementioned ellagic acid. These substances ensure the firmness of the skin, hair and nails . Moreover, they provide nourishment to the skin from within and therefore work better than expensive creams from stores.
They will help you lose weight
Unlike other fruit, blackberries contain minimal sugar. In addition, they can literally kickstart your metabolism and thus help you with healthy weight loss.
You don’t have to eat them and in fact, it’s enough to just boil a few leaves!
Healing tea for a variety of ailments
Blackberry leaves are literally packed with calcium, B vitamins (especially the valuable B12), C, vitamin K and E. They are also notable for their high iron content, which is greater in the leaves than in commonly grown leafy vegetables from our gardens.
They also contain ascorbic acid, beneficial minerals, amino acids . Decoctions, infusions and teas can regulate digestion, have a beneficial effect on the skin and if you rinse your mouth with an infusion of the leaves, you have a great replacement for mouthwash that at the same time fights inflammations and periodontitis. Moreover they work excellently even during inflammations of the oral cavity and swollen tonsils. The leaves act as a diuretic, promote sweating (which is important especially during illnesses and viral infections) and fight urinary tract infections.
Tea from blackberry leaves strengthens immunity and during times of illness and epidemics acts as an effective form of prevention. In addition, it smells truly wonderful.
