The opening of kindergartens and primary schools has become one of the most talked-about topics in political circles, but also among experts. Many strongly disagree in their views and it seems that a split has even occurred among members of the Central Crisis Staff.
On April 15 another meeting of the Central Crisis Staff took place, where experts again discussed the course of the spread of the coronavirus and the new measures that the Government of the Czech Republic would introduce in an extreme case. After arriving at the meeting Igor Matovič stated that opening kindergartens and primary schools is not a priority and much more serious matters should be dealt with.
Statement
However, the matter was also commented on by infectious disease specialist and member of the crisis staff Vladimír Krčméry, who has a different opinion. At the meeting he came with a proposal to open kindergartens and the first grades of schools. The reason for easing the measures is said to be parents working as nurses and doctors, who because of their children are on so-called OČR or PN. According to the tropical medicine expert, these are professions that we will soon need. The crisis staff’s official decision has not yet been made.
