The plant called lemon balm is probably known to each of us. Its pleasant scent and aroma can flavor not only drinks, but also dishes. The effects of lemon balm not only calm you, but also strengthen the whole organism. The uses of the plant are really diverse and very wide.
In Slovakia lemon balm is a common herb, which is grown in many gardens or on balconies. Its medicinal effects have long been known.
Tincture of lemon balm
Most of us know and use lemon balm in the form of calming teas or herbal blends, few know that it is even more useful if you pour ordinary Alpa or alcohol over it – (choose stronger alcohol at least 60%, ideally 70%) .
The procedure is very simple. It is enough to pour 10 g of lemon balm leaves with ordinary Alpa or 70 percent alcohol . Fill the lemon balm leaves and alcohol into a suitable, well-sealable container. Let the lemon balm tincture steep for 1 day and then you can strain and use it.
Usage: It is usually taken 5-10 drops 3x a day, duration as needed . The tincture can also be added to tea.
Lemon balm tea
Lemon balm tea is the oldest and most popular way to use this medicinal herb. In spring and early summer 3-4 fresh leaves are enough for 250 ml of boiling water. In other seasons, use one teaspoon of dried leaves for the same amount of water.
