The sciatic nerve is located in the lumbar spine area, runs through the buttock and ends at the feet. For this reason, its compression can cause severe pain.
The general term “blockage / damage of the sciatic nerve” includes the loss of elasticity and flexibility of the back side of the lower limb muscles. It is often associated with a process of shortening or stiffening of the muscles, which can occur in people after the age of 30.
Traditional treatment includes diagnosis and prescribing appropriate medications. During treatment you should also perform simple exercises that stretch the muscles and in a short time you will forget about the pain.
Exercises to release a trapped sciatic nerve:
Stretching exercises are a great help because they can calm inflammation and thus relieve pain. They can be challenging, so remember to perform these exercises slowly and on the exhale increase the stretching of the muscles.
Lie on a flat surface, bend the leg that hurts at the knee and gently pull it toward your shoulder. When you feel tension, try to keep the leg in this position for 30 seconds. Straighten the leg, rest a little and repeat the exercise 2 more times.
Again lie down, bend your knees and pull them to your chest while your pelvis remains on the ground. Cross your legs as shown in the picture. Then wrap your arms around your healthy leg and pull it toward you. Hold the legs like this for 30 seconds, release and return to the starting position. Repeat 2 more times.
Although it is paradoxical, remember that movement is the most effective way to treat inflammation of the sciatic nerve. You also stimulate blood circulation, eliminate muscle immobility and thereby speed up their recovery.
