They are popularly called warts. Medically they are called fibromas, that is benign tumorous growths of connective tissue. They usually occur on the neck, nose, or face.
They look like small soft nodules, but in size they can vary from a few millimetres up to almost one centimetre.
They usually have the same color as the surrounding skin. However, there are also cases where their pigmentation is pronounced.
They are not malignant, but over time they can begin to grow and become more visible. Then they can become a significant cosmetic problem.
Where fibromas occur and their causes
They most often appear in middle-aged people in areas where the skin rubs or is dry.
Besides the already mentioned face and neck, they often appear under the arms, in the groin, under the breasts, on the abdomen, on the eyelids, or around the nose. They can also occur elsewhere on the body.
In fact, almost every person has at least one wart, so this phenomenon is not unusual.
If they occur in places where the skin regularly rubs against something, they can become painful, inflamed, enlarge, or even bleed.
The causes of their development are not yet precisely known, but it is assumed that genetics play the main role and sometimes obesity is mentioned as a factor.
The good news, however, is that they can be removed without bleeding even at home, without the need for cutting them out or burning with liquid nitrogen by a doctor.
A substance that can deal with them is apple cider vinegar. It is generally considered the most effective home remedy for treatment.
Apple cider vinegar can be used to treat several health problems. We wrote more about them in another article. Today we will focus in more detail on removing warts.
Warning: Apple cider vinegar must never be used to remove warts on the eyelids.
And here is a method that has already helped many people.
Recipe for removing warts
1. Gently wash the area around the wart with lukewarm water and soap.
2. To start, soak the wart in water for about 15 minutes (or apply a cotton ball soaked in water to it).
3. Then dry the area.
4. Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and squeeze it so the vinegar doesn’t drip everywhere. If you don’t have apple cider vinegar, ordinary vinegar can be used.
5. Then place the cotton pad directly on the wart and tape it over with adhesive tape. Leave it on for 15 minutes.
6. Finally, rinse the area again with clean water.
7. Repeat this procedure 3 times a day, for several days in a row – ideally about a week.
What to expect
The wart will first darken, then a scab will form on it, it will dry out, and finally fall off.
Depending on how large it is and how deep it extends into the skin, when it falls off it may cause a bit of damage in the form of a small hole.
Therefore apply calendula cream or aloe vera gel to the skin.
If the wart does not extend too deeply into the skin and the procedure was performed correctly, no scar will remain.
