It hasn’t been that long since washing machines were a major technological success and people rejoiced that doing laundry would finally be a breeze. Over time, however, it turned out that the washing machine itself also requires some care in order to be able to wash our clothes into a clean and fragrant state for several years. Cleaning the washing machine is not a very pleasant activity, so we’ll advise you on how to make it easier.
Cleaning the washing machine
If you’re about to clean your washing machine but don’t feel like doing it at all, we have tips just for you. Cleaning will be quick, easy, effective and will cost you almost nothing. Simple tricks will be presented to you below.
Washing machine door
As soon as the washing machine finishes, there is damp laundry in it, and the door is also wet. Therefore, whenever the washing machine finishes, remove the laundry and wipe the door with a dry cloth and leave it slightly open. This will allow the machine to breathe and mold will not form.
Rubber seal
A lot of bacteria and dirt often accumulate behind the sealing rubber. You’ll do best if after each wash you pull back the rubber and clean the space with baking soda or a solvent. Avoid chlorine-based products so you don’t damage the rubber. Apply a suitable product to a sponge and use the sponge to clean the area.
Washing machine drum
At least once a month you should also clean the drum of the washing machine.
Mix baking soda together with citric acid. Apply this mixture to a sponge and use the sponge to wipe the drum.
Then put a suitable acid like citric acid or vinegar into the detergent dispenser. Use the same amount as you would for detergent and run a wash cycle empty.
Dispenser
Remove the detergent dispenser according to the instructions of your washing machine’s manufacturer and wipe it.
If the dispenser is clogged, make a mixture of water, vinegar and baking soda and soak the dispenser in it.
Let the dispenser soak in this mixture for about 30 minutes and then rinse with water.
Filter
Cleaning the washing machine filter is not difficult at all. Usually this filter is found at the bottom of the machine. You might want to place a towel next to the washing machine so that water does not flow under the machine or elsewhere.
Once you have the towel ready, unscrew the filter cover and remove all the dirt. You may be surprised at what you find in the filter. Clean the opening and close the filter again.
