Many gardeners do not want to use toxic agents in their garden. However, there is one very effective and efficient method.

It is a proven and effective method of destroying weeds and all unwanted plants with a preparation made from ordinary ingredients from your household.

To prepare as a herbicide

To prepare a vinegar solution with the desired concentration, dilute acetic acid (70%) with clean water, using 3.5 parts water to 1 part vinegar. This means that to prepare 4.5 liters of solution, 1 liter of 70% vinegar is diluted in 3.5 liters of water.

The resulting 20% vinegar solution (4.5 liters) is mixed with 2/3 of a cup of salt. Wait until the crystals are not completely dissolved in the liquid, add a teaspoon of a cleaning agent, for example dishwashing liquid or liquid soap. The soap in the solution will provide an additional adhesive function on the surface of the plants.

The prepared “homemade herbicide” is used to treat vegetation on warm and sunny days.

Spray the plants with a sprayer or pour through a small funnel. Choose a day when no rain is expected, because even light rain significantly reduces the effectiveness of the preparation.

The first effects will appear within 5-6 hours. The following day you may observe mass die-off of weeds. If you do not have acetic acid available, you can safely use ordinary white vinegar (9%). However, the less concentrated agent should be applied for 7 to 8 days.

Procedure:

1 l of water, half a glass of salt, 250 ml of vinegar and a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid). Thoroughly mix all ingredients and then spray the leaves of the weeds with the resulting preparation.

Where the salt and vinegar solution is used

The vinegar herbicide destroys the plant that comes into contact with it. This is really a functional tool that allows you to get rid of weeds forever. However, it does not only kill weeds.

Therefore this solution can only be used in areas where there are no other – useful plantings or where none are planned in the coming years, because vinegar with salt removes nutrients from the soil needed for their growth and development.

It is worth using on garden paths, gaps between paving stones or blocks where grassy and perennial weeds grow, driveways, terraces and other places outside plantings.

100% ecological solution

My best experience is with ordinary boiling water. Pour it directly onto the weeds. The roots dry out and the next day just collect them. That’s all.

If you have colored paving I recommend only boiling water, vinegar or baking soda can make stains.

I put ordinary cheap vinegar into a spray bottle and sprayed thoroughly on the weeds. Moss, weeds – everything disappeared. Just be careful that the vinegar doesn’t get on the flowers.

Mix vinegar with water and a bit of dish soap – tried and effective.

Although it is not a permanent solution, every spring we spray VAPK and we have peace for some time – the moss comes off nicely and the paving is also cleaned. If you want to get rid of weeds for longer, I definitely recommend vinegar.

Help from the bathroom

Ordinary bleach for white laundry helped me. This idea was suggested by my sister-in-law, who had enough nerves and poured bleach directly on the weeds :-D. I did it like this though and recommend:

Mix 4 liters of water with 3/4 cup (1 cup = 250 ml) of bleach for white laundry. Then take a broom with stiffer bristles and simply sweep. The agent should get into the joints where the weed is, it will smooth it out. But be careful that the mixture does not get on the lawn and where you grow flowers. I tested it on stones, a brick and concrete walkway, I haven’t tried it on other surfaces. The paving is without moss and beautifully clean like new. I recommend it.
