We were once informed that real butter is the worst thing for our health and well-being. Is that really so? Or were we deceived into thinking that it’s better to eat substitutes and margarines?
Butter
During the 1960s the claim that butter is very harmful became widespread. People were convinced that natural fats are harmful and began to avoid them completely.
But it has now been shown that people who include plant fats in their diet have a much lower risk of heart disease and are significantly less troubled by arteriosclerosis.
It is an extraordinarily complex type of fat that contains more than 400 different unsaturated fats and a truly decent amount of fat-soluble nutrients (A, D, E and K). Unsaturated fats are something much more important than a mere source of energy. Some of them have biological activity.
Butter tastes better
This is a characteristic item that humanity has consumed or mixed for a long time without adverse effects on health. The numerous unsaturated fats in butter influence the body’s physiology and natural chemistry in one way or another in a positive way.
Margarine and butter
It is interesting that partially hydrogenated unsaturated fats in margarine damage the circulatory pathways and vessels. They lower blood cholesterol levels and increase triglyceride and lipoprotein levels. Margarines along these lines damage the cardiovascular framework! They also reduce the utilization of omega-3 unsaturated fats and prostaglandins, which dissolve blood clots.
Butter made from the milk of cows that graze on green grass contains a higher proportion of omega-3 acids and the nutrient K2.
A recent study examined CLA levels in the fat tissues of individuals who had suffered heart disease. The degree of unsaturated fats is a reliable indicator of the utilization of dairy fat. It was found that whole dairy products reduce the risk of heart attack.
When I asked my grandmother why she doesn’t use margarines, she answered that butter is much better, and the fact that soldiers ate margarine during the war because butter couldn’t be obtained and margarine was just a cheap substitute speaks for that.
