The State Veterinary Administration of the Czech Republic (ŠVPS SR) warned via its official website about a non-compliant product that is available in the Billa retail chain.

A few weeks ago inspectors discovered deficiencies in  the Bardejov branch of the Billa retail chain . The dangerous product were mandarins. For this reason an official inspection was also carried out in other stores in Slovakia. Most recently the deficiencies appeared in Komárno again at the Billa sro outlet, fil.260, Eötvösa 23, 945 01 Komárno.

Irregularities were found in “mandarins of the W. Murcott variety, country of origin: Turkey, supplier: EUROGROUP DEUTSCHLAND GmbH, Katzbergstraße 3, Langenfeld 40764, Germany”. The analyzed sample was found to contain the pesticide fenbutatin oxide, which is considered an unauthorized substance.

The inspection results also revealed another 12 pesticide residues. The HI (Hazard Index) value reaches 8.6 for children and 1.7 for adults. Both values exceeded the accepted amount, which is 1. According to experts, most of the fruit should be consumed, but the fruit may still be present in other stores of the retail chain.
