Do you like bacon? You’re doing well! Recently scientists analyzed more than 1,000 raw foods to assess their nutritional value, and bacon appeared on the same level as chia seeds, almonds or beet leaves. They assigned each product a “nutritional score”. The higher the score, the more likely that product alone is sufficient to meet daily nutrient needs.

Researchers created a list of the 100 most nutritious foods, in which bacon took an impressive 8th place. Bacon also left behind such popular healthy products as arugula, spinach, tuna, salmon and walnuts!

Here is what the top ten most nutritious products look like:

  • Annona – tropical fruit (96)
  • Sea bass (89)
  • Large plaice (88)
  • Chia seeds (85)
  • Pumpkin seeds (84)

What does bacon contain?

Bacon is a good source of B vitamins and many trace elements. In addition, it is a more beneficial unsaturated fat than, for example, beef and mutton. Of course, bacon should be consumed in moderation.

Bacon contains arachidonic acid, which is among the four fatty acids needed for the proper functioning of our organism. Arachidonic acid ensures proper bone tissue function, is responsible for the growth of bone cells, the function of the heart muscle, kidneys and participates in cholesterol metabolism.
