Cleaning the oven can be a real chore. Burnt-on residues settle very easily on its surface, and getting rid of them effectively without scratching the surface can be a truly heroic effort. Even expensive cleaning products may not guarantee the result we expect. This is especially true if we’ve neglected cleaning the oven for a long time.
Brilliant trick for cleaning the oven
Today we will show you a truly brilliant and eco-friendly way to clean the oven so it looks like new again. And there is no miraculous cleaner behind it, just the right combination of ingredients you normally have in your household.
We need:
- A spray bottle
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda
- a cloth
- vinegar
- a small bowl
Procedure:
- Cleaning has two phases. First we focus on the inside of the oven and then on the door and its window.
- We start with the interior.
- Remove the individual parts from the oven.
-
In a bowl mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with a little water to achieve a paste consistency.
- Apply the paste to the interior parts of the oven. You may notice the paste turning brown.
- Let the paste work for at least 12 hours (ideally 24 hours) and you will see how effectively the paste dissolves even very burnt-on dirt. After this time, take a damp cloth and wipe off as much of the paste as possible.
- Pour some vinegar into the spray bottle and spray it onto areas where you still see baking soda residue. Then thoroughly wipe the interior with a damp cloth.
-
Then set the oven to a low temperature and leave it on for 15-20 minutes so the interior can dry sufficiently.
- Now we move on to cleaning the door and the window.
- Again mix baking soda with water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the window and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then clean the surface again with a damp cloth. You will see the results of your work immediately!
