An experienced farmer showed us a fantastic method of growing potatoes in hay. The amazing thing about this method is the fact that in this way you grow potatoes in a meadow, there is no need to plow, no need to use chemicals and no need to dig up or deal with pests.
For this method you don’t need a hoe, just place a potato on the ground and cover it with hay or straw.
Potatoes in this way try to absorb nutrients into themselves. Before such planting you don’t have to fertilize the soil, but it is good if you are growing potatoes in more challenging conditions.

Potato harvest 2x a year
We would like to share our experience with you, because we grow potatoes this way regularly, but we use an even simpler method – we put potatoes into straw and chopped grass, it is the best and simplest way to plant, and when it comes to harvesting, you just roll back the mat of straw and potatoes and simply take them out from the inside.
By this method we harvest potatoes 2x a year.
When we mowed the grass in one area, we didn’t bury the grass, but we spread it evenly over the entire area. Because the grass seemed sparse to me, I added straw and created a slightly raised bed for the potatoes.
