If you have a problem with ants at the cottage or in the garden, you don’t have to rush to the store for chemical products. Try this excellent and proven home trick that will help you get rid of ants quickly and effectively. This idea comes from YouTube and thanks to it we were able to remove several ant nests under the terrace, which greatly made summer grilling and enjoying fruit easier without constantly fighting ants.

You need:

  • 500 ml of water
  • 5 g of boric acid
  • Banana peels (2 peels)

Procedure:

  1. Preparing the banana peels:

    • Prepare the peels from two bananas. Ideally use overripe bananas, which are softer and more aromatic, making them more attractive to ants.
  2. Preparing the solution:

    • Pour 500 ml of hot water into a jar.
    • Add 5 g of boric acid and stir thoroughly. The goal is for the boric acid to completely dissolve in the water.
  3. Soaking:

    • Pour the prepared solution over the banana peels.
    • Let the peels soak in the solution for 2 hours. This step is important because it allows the peels to absorb the solution and become even more attractive to ants.
  4. Preparing the trap:

    • After 2 hours remove the peels and cut them into smaller pieces. This increases the chance that the ants will carry the peels into the ant nest.
  5. Placing the trap:

    • Place the pieces of banana peel in areas where you have a problem with ants. You can put them under the terrace, around flower beds, or in other places where you have noticed increased ant activity.

How it works:

Ants are attracted by the sweet scent of the banana peels and the boric acid, which is toxic to them, effectively kills them. Pieces of banana peels soaked in the boric acid solution will be carried by the ants into their nest, which leads to the elimination of the entire nest.

Warning:

  • Pet Safety: Be careful that this trap does not come into contact with pets or small children. Boric acid can be dangerous if ingested in large amounts.
  • Repeat: If the ant nest was too large or the ants keep returning, repeat this process until you notice the ants have completely disappeared.

Conclusion

This solution is simple, cheap, and effective. If you’re troubled by ants at the cottage or in the garden, you don’t have to spend money on expensive chemical products. Try this home trick and enjoy your outdoor space without bothersome ants!
