The wonderfully enchanting scent of lilacs is one of the most striking symbols of spring. Besides its unique appearance and unforgettable fragrance, it also has one more unique property.

Healing oil

You can make a healing oil from these tiny flowers. Not only does it smell beautiful, but it also helps relieve many health problems.

Lilac contains a high amount of ascorbic acid, essential oils and flavonoids that have a positive effect on the body.

Healing effects of lilac:

1. anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties

2. relieves joint and muscle pain,

3. soothes skin problems,

4. helps with headache and migraine,

5. relieves tension,

6. has unique beauty effects – slows premature skin aging,

7. contains natural UVA and UVB protective substances, thereby protecting the skin from damage.

You will need:

  • fresh flowers
  • unscented vegetable oil (any vegetable oil — for example, cold-pressed sunflower, jojoba, almond…)
  • 1-liter container with a lid
  • clean gauze

Method:

  1. Carefully separate the small flowers from the stems, fill them into a jar.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil to 40 degrees Celsius and pour it over the top of the flowers in the jar.
  3. Cover and let steep for 2 days.
  4. Strain the oil through a thin cloth, squeeze the blossoms well.
  5. Heat the oil again and add a fresh portion of flowers, let it infuse again.
  6. Repeat this process until you obtain enough fragrant oil.

Usage:

Use this oil to rub on the forehead and temples for migraine, for chills, and to massage sore joints and muscles. Don’t hesitate to add a few drops of the oil to your cream, shampoo and conditioner – you’ll enrich your cosmetics with an amazing aroma and valuable substances.

It can also be used to treat rashes, sunburn, minor abrasions, scratches and other skin conditions, such as purulent acne. If you add the oil to cleaning products when cleaning, you will scent the whole house.

It helps treat bronchitis, colds, sore throat, flu, and is also used for inhalation. It relieves stress and tension.
