Few people know and believe that cervical osteochondrosis can be much more dangerous than cancer. Many patients say it is better to “fix” the neck than to suffer from hypertension all their life and fear a sudden heart attack or stroke.

Doctors’ advice

Physiotherapists are convinced that cervical osteochondrosis is the main cause of hypertension and in 5% of cases the disease is a consequence of tumors of the adrenal glands, the thyroid gland and kidney pathologies.

The fact is that with age the cervical vertebrae gain the ability to shift and compress the vessels that nourish the brain. It is the brain that, due to lack of oxygen, sends a signal to the heart to pump blood at a higher frequency.

How to act?

If a person has a weak heart, the brain takes over control of the vessels and capillaries and orders them to constrict as much as possible. If the capillaries are weakened, the brain burdens the kidneys and forbids them from removing water from the body. All so that a certain pressure is maintained in the system.

The result is a change in the composition of the blood and an increase in the amount of sugar, because the brain needs increased nutrition. When reserves are depleted, a stroke occurs. This can be avoided if the cervical vessel in the area of the vertebrae is compressed.

The cause of vessel constriction is quite unusual; it often happens as a nervous shock. A spasm occurs in the muscles of the neck and chest area. For this reason, blood circulation and the function of the intervertebral discs are disrupted — the vertebrae are unstable and compress the vessels.

The main culprit of all problems is the first vertebra, which faces the maximum load. However, there are special exercises which, if necessary, should be supplemented with a proper diet and training using rehabilitation aids. Exercises can be performed at home, but if you do not feel significant relief even after a month you should visit a doctor. The problem may be that your vertebra or vessel is in an unusual position.
