Numbness in the fingers of the hand or even the whole hand is experienced by 1 in 10 people worldwide during their lifetime. This sensation can be a sign of fatigue, but it can also indicate a bigger problem that needs attention. The article contains symptoms that will help you find out that something is not right with your body.
Fatigue and exhaustion manifest as tingling in the fingers
If you lift heavy objects and put great pressure on the wrist or place it in an unnatural position, tingling in the fingers can occur. This puts pressure on the nerves that are close to the skin. Let your hands rest because you are straining them more and they are tired. You can also regularly massage your hands.
If you do not have enough vitamins in your body, it will mainly show as tingling in the fingers of the left hand or foot. You need to restore your vitamin intake. It is a good idea to consult a specialist on this topic who will advise the correct amount. Overdosing on vitamins can cause side effects. If your back hurts, you may also notice it on the little finger of the left hand. Just stretch often; also try yoga, gymnastics, or swimming.
On the line of the thumb, index finger and middle finger you may observe an approaching tendinitis. The tendons swell and cause numbness in the hands. Do simple exercises or stretch the joints.
Watch out for Buerger’s disease or diabetes
The fingertips on the right hand lose sensitivity as a result of pressure on superficial nerves. This can also be caused by an injured hand or shoulder joint. Be careful about cardiovascular problems that affect blood flow to the limbs. You can prevent the problem by starting to go for walks or doing exercises. In the case of more serious circulation problems, it is necessary to visit a doctor.
Buerger’s disease most often affects smokers
Blood flow is blocked by the constant intake of nicotine. This leads to a lack of minerals in the body, resulting in numbness not only in the fingers but over time in the entire hand. The first step to getting rid of the disease is to quit smoking. However, this disease cannot be completely cured.
One of the first symptoms of diabetes is a tingling sensation that begins in the feet. It then progresses toward certain parts of the arm and hand. It is caused by damage to nerve endings and blood flow is also reduced in certain areas.
There are two types of diabetes:
- Type 1 diabetes is characterized by a lack of insulin in the body; it usually begins in childhood or adolescence
- Type 2 develops from insulin resistance and the most common cause of this type of diabetes is obesity
Type 1 diabetes is a hereditary condition and about 7 % of the population of our country have it
Although it is possible for a child to inherit this disease from their parents, the risk is not very high. Type 2 diabetes develops in adulthood. In addition, it can remain hidden for some time, so information about its occurrence in the family may be distorted.
