I discovered aphids on the hibiscus and thought I would try something on them that same day; there are many guides online for bio-sprays that don’t harm and can be made at home.

How to deal with aphids

I found one that contained tobacco, but I didn’t want to shake the tobacco out of cigarettes so I used cigarette butts from the trash.

How to do it?

I used 5 cigarette butts (that’s 1–1.5 teaspoons of tobacco), which I poured boiling water over and let steep. Of course, the butts must still contain a little tobacco.

I prepared it early in the morning and let it steep all day, strained it, added a little ordinary dish soap (a few drops are enough) and a teaspoon of alcohol.

I put everything into a spray bottle and sprayed the hibiscus – it worked immediately!

Since then I use it on all flowers and vegetables – and my wife no longer nags me to quit smoking!
