Surely you know it. White plastic garden chairs never stay white for very long. After a few seasons they start to look dirty, grey and dingy. For most people this is clear proof that they must throw them away and get new ones. Fortunately, there are clever home methods that are not expensive at all, yet extremely effective. With a few simple methods you can enjoy garden furniture that will be like new again! Before you start work, don’t forget to test your chosen method on a small piece of the chair, because each plastic chair material is a little different.

Simple and very cheap methods

The first method you can use is a cold degreaser. Apply it to the chairs, leave it to work for at least half an hour and then wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth. Another option is the classic cleaning powder (e.g. Domestos), which you usually have on hand at home. Its big advantage is that it does not scratch the surface and cleans chemically. Leave it to work for at least half an hour and then clean the chair with a clean sponge.

What else can you try?

The third method is simply vinegar and the dishwashing liquid you normally use. Take a larger container and pour in water, vinegar and the dishwashing liquid. Shake thoroughly and scrub the chairs with this mixture. You’ll see that they will be clean in no time, although you will have to devote a little time and effort. The great advantage of this method and all the others is simply that they are amazingly cheap and you’ll save money on new plastic chairs.

Try ordinary aftershave water. It may seem strange to you, but it really works. Rub this water on the outdoor plastic furniture and leave it to act for 10 minutes. The great thing is that you don’t have to scrub anything and the chairs will be clean and beautifully white again. Try one of these methods and you won’t have to needlessly spend money on new garden furniture that you can easily revive again with simple and cheap tricks.
