Half of people don’t like bees; the half that doesn’t like them thinks the bees want to bully them. The fact, however, is that these small creatures are gradually dying out.
In any case they are essential for our lives, because they provide food for up to 90% of the total population of this planet. Without them we could not survive.
You don’t have to hug trees to support nature. You might be surprised, but there are simple ways you can help our planet.
They say: No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
We are largely responsible for ensuring and protecting this great world for the individuals who come after us.
A real update from Sir David Attenborough
Sir David Attenborough (92) is a prominent British zoologist, author and television presenter. He also has an excellent voice that you will recognize when you hear it.
This living legend later posted a message on his Facebook profile that each of us should heed:
“If bees disappeared from the surface of the Earth, humans would have only 4 years left to live on Earth.”
David Attenborough is not the only person to have made this statement. In any case, his continuing message is an update we should pay attention to.
Furthermore, he says:
“Bees may seem small and insignificant, but they carry a huge weight on their shoulders – roughly a third of the food we consume is pollinated by these insects,
“Over recent years the world’s bee population has fallen by 30%.”
The situation is by no means fortunate. Each of us can do one thing. His idea is now beginning to spread across the world like wildfire.
What Sir David Attenborough suggests:
This remarkable zoologist revealed a simple tip that any of us can do:
Mix water with sugar and leave this mixture outside, in a nursery or in the garden every time you go out.
It will help save lives!
He explains it like this:
“At this time bees often look as if they are dying. However, that is only an appearance.
Bees can become very tired while collecting pollen and then do not have enough energy to return to the hive. That’s why you may sometimes see them lying motionless on the ground.
If you find a tired bee near your house or apartment, offer it sugar and water. That will help it overcome exhaustion.
Simply mix 2 tablespoons of white granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon of water and leave one teaspoon of this mixture in a place the bee can reach. Whether that is in the garden, on the balcony or in some other similar spot.”
Help us spread Sir Attenborough’s awareness to individuals. It’s likely that more of us will do so — bees can provide extraordinary help during these hot summer days.
Another way to help them is to plant wildflowers in a garden or nursery. Your local bees will love it.
