Congestion is a very unpleasant problem that most of us automatically associate with a cold. Mucus is produced when our body defends itself against foreign harmful organisms and it also helps when the body gets rid of them both through the mouth, i.e. by coughing, and through the nose, i.e. by blowing.
Congestion and its dangers
A common cold will disappear in a relatively short time with proper medication, but it can also happen, especially in children and in older people, that the congestion begins to appear chronic. Here it is often no longer a typically respiratory illness, but the causes tend to lie in the large intestine, whose good condition is a prerequisite for a functioning immune system.
Mucus is essential for the proper functioning of our body, but with congestion, i.e. excessive production of mucus, it is already necessary to fight it, since it can cause, for example, abdominal problems. Sometimes, however, it does not outwardly manifest with a cough or a runny nose and is therefore not so easy to recognize. Clues may be, for example:
- night sweating
- sweating when consuming food
- rashes, or
- a strong body odor.
A simple recipe for stronger immunity
To reduce congestion and generally strengthen immunity you can use a simple and purely natural remedy made from three absolutely ordinary but effective ingredients. You only need water, rolled oats and honey. Rinse the oats in water and mix 100 ml of water with 250 ml of honey. Briefly boil the mixture and let it cool and stand overnight so that all the components properly combine. The next morning strain the resulting liquid and pour it into a glass bottle.
To ensure the desired effect of the mixture, it is necessary to drink about 40 ml each day on an empty stomach, and do so for 40 days. Between the previous and a new forty-day cycle it is advisable to take a 15-day break.
This drink alone, of course, will not eliminate all the problems mentioned above. It is good to pay attention to enough exercise, quality sleep and a healthy diet. If the problem of congestion concerns you, for example reducing the consumption of dairy products and favoring fermented ones may help. Also beware of the well-known „white killers“, namely sugar and flour; here too, less means more.
